Polymer Services was established as a company in 1987 dedicated to providing both new and used equipment to the Rubber and Plastics Industries in South Africa and overseas. At the time of the company's formation there was no specific organisation in South Africa providing such a service but the need was apparent after discussions with several senior people within the industry.

In the past twenty years Polymer Services has supplied a variety of plant to all the tyre factories within South Africa and to many non-tyre organisations. The Company sends out a quarterly plant list to over 180 local and 50 overseas companies.

New plant built by Polymer Services in association with Profab Engineering who share premises, includes batch-off cooling lines (8 supplied to the tyre factories and 2 to non-tyre plants), strip cooling machines for the smaller compound mixing facilities, compression moulding presses and recently an inner tread line with duplex extruder for a local tyre factory. A second line has followed this order from another SA tyre plant.

The company also undertakes full refurbishment of used plant.

Equipment has been supplied to companies offshore in the USA, UK, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Europe and South America and also countries within the African Continent including Nigeria, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Polymer Services also represents several offshore high-profile rubber equipment manufacturers in South Africa. These include Comerio Ercole of Italy who produce calender lines for tyre and non-tyre companies, Rutil s.r.l. of Italy who produce rubber injection moulding machines, Zeppelin of Germany who specialise in automatic weighing and feeding of raw materials to mixing rooms in both rubber and plastics and chemical industries, and LTM of India who are a major supplier of tyre curing presses worldwide and have supplied large truck tyre presses to local tyre companies in South Africa, including hydraulic presses. Press spares are an increasingly important component of this company's supply to the Tyre Industry. A company with whom we have also recently made a licensing agreement is Cybernetix, based in Marseille. This company manufactures high tech X-ray equipment for non destructive testing of tyres, pharmaceuticals and almost any application where vision technology is required. Polymer Services have their own workshop and offices and have good networking facilities with local engineering specialists in the electronic, systems control, and hydraulics fields.

Offices and workshop are located in Pietermaritzburg - Kwa Zulu Natal's capital city - close to the N3 national road linking Durban (Africa's biggest port) with Johannesburg and Gauteng province - the engine room of South Africa's industry and commerce.

With knowledge and experience gained from many projects handled over the past 20 years the company has confidence to undertake whatever contracts potential customers may require. With repeat orders from established customer links - the company record of quality and value for money spent is well documented.
